After graduating from Northern Illinois University in 1972 with a B.S. in accounting, I worked in construction and real estate accounting in Chicago for a year before moving to Phoenix, Arizona to begin my career in public accounting. I moved to Colorado Springs in 1981 and founded what became a four partner local CPA firm in 1983. I now devote my full-time efforts to Lifetime Planning Concepts. One of my passions is to help people achieve financial freedom. To do so, I sought out and was awarded the Personal Financial Specialist designation "With Distinction" in 1985. Lifetime Planning Concepts, P.C., a financial planning and investment advisory firm was formed in 1995.
In 1983 the Colorado Society of CPA's appointed me Vice Chair of the Specialization Oversight Board to create the Personal Financial Specialist designation and establish standards for CPA's providing financial advisory services. By 1990 I was recruited by the Executive Committee of the Personal Financial Planning Division of the AICPA and served as its chairman from 1993 to 1995. In 1999 the AICPA presented me with the "Distinguished Service Award" from the Personal Financial Planning Division for my service to the financial planning profession.
To keep on the cutting edge of ideas and strategies, I speak to CPA's and Financial Planners on insurance, investments, estate tax, IRA and financial planning issues. I try to keep involved in my profession on a national basis as well. Perhaps you have seen me on CNN, CNBC, or local networks or have read quotes in financial newspapers and magazines.
In our spare time, my wife, Elaine and I travel to Mexico, Central America and the U.S. Southwest where we explore ancient Indian ruins, pyramids and cultures. We love dogs and Diego, our third, is a Tri-colored Collie and one of the joys of our lives. I enjoy camping, reading, writing and song-writing, as well as being a "die-hard" Chicago Cub's fan.
